As finals in the Champions league go, this one was a good one.  Our colours here are firmly red but we would all have to agree that Barcelona thoroughly deserved to win. Their possession football was and is magnificent and their spirit and ethos is top drawer. After Rooney scored the equalisier, it might have been possible to think that United would come off the blocks and win, but Barcelona were’nt fazed at all and they simply stuck to their normal playing style – hats off to them. We’d have loved United to have won but there was and is no argument with the result.

From a neutral point of view there was also something poignant about Abidal lifting the cup – may God bless him.

And by the way Liverpool – we’d love to play you in the Champions League – try qualifying!
